Bubuzland - You can't measure a dream!

Hi! My name is Alina Predescu and my artistic talent is making accessories, my specialty are the “cartoon brooches”.

I named this hobby “Bubuzland”. What does Bubuzland mean? Bubuzland represents a world full of joy and happiness. It’s the place where I can be myself and where I can use the talent I’ve got. Since I was a little child I have loved drawing and now, through Bubuzland I can express myself and my talent, too. But Bubuzland is not only drawing, it means creating accessories. My specialty are the brooches representing cartoon characters, like Lola and Bugs Bunny, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Donald and Daisy, or modern characters like Spiderman, the animals from Madagascar movie or from Finding Nemo.

I make these accessories using a coloured modeling clay. The action is similar to the one practiced in case of sculpturing: I play and I cut the modeling clay until I find the perfect shape for my brooch, after that I attach the needle, I put them in the baking oven and over 30 minutes they are ready to wear.

The idea of making accessories came from the passion for earings, I have all shapes of earings, made from precious metals to bones, or leaves... and one day I thought that I can make them myself and so I started this “business”. First I made a pair of earings, after that a brooch and so on. This happened two years ago. Since then I created hundreds of brooches and I started to sell them. At the beginning, I had some requests from my friends, from my colleagues and from persons who found me on the internet, too. After that I participated at some handmade fairs.

It is complicate to say how often I creat because this depends on seasons: in autumn, winter and spring I make almost every week because there are a lot of holidays and this involves more requests: in autumn is Halloween, in winter is Christmas and in spring is not only Easter, we have a national holiday named “Martisor” and then is the blooming period.

I can’t say I have a muse, I am inspired by fashion (especially by the accessories shops) and cartoons. When I have a new request is a challenge for me and I do my best.

What is the most amazing at this action is the final result: when you see unknown people wearing accessories created by you. This is wonderfull and this motivates me to keep on creating not only for me, for others too. It is a feelling that I can’t describe. Sometimes when I am in the elevator and there is a girl wearing a Bubuzland brooch and another person is asking her from where did she buy that, I am proud of me and my work.
